Renault has finally entered the sub-compact SUV segment with their sporty, smart and stunning KIGER, launching in India before anywhere else. This shows the India-first approach of the brand. The French auto carmaker globally revealed the Renault Kiger in India on January 28th, 2021. The Renault Kiger is an SUV that is majorly designed and manufactured in India and will be exported to many international markets from India after the launch in our markets. Renault enjoyed its huge success on launching the mid-size SUV – Duster back in 2012. And now with Renault Kiger, it is expanding its product line in India.

The new Renault Kiger’s price starts at Rs 5.45 Lakhs (ex-showroom) and will be offered in four variants – RXL, RXT, RXE and RXZ. Being one of the latest contenders in a sub-compact segment that sees competition from Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and many more, Renault had to ensure a distinctive proposition. With Kiger, we are looking forward to span both ends of B-segment.  We as a company tried to create a differentiate positioning. So, it is not just stunning outside but also smart from inside and sporty to drive.

The Renault Kiger – A typical French Design

The exteriors of the new Renault Kiger follow the French manufacturer’s unique SUV design that was employed on the facelift KWID. The front fascia features the signature split headlight design and sculpted front bumper that enhances its stunning look. The flared arches and bulges give the Kiger a striking impression and a strong road presence. The sides are underlined by the 16-inch black diamond-cut finished alloys, wheel arch cladding with roof rails and dual-tone roof. The front view turns out to be very modern with LED tail lamp unit with glossy black inserts.  With 205 mm high ground clearance and wheelbase span of 2500mm makes it look very sturdy and almost eager to go off-road.

The Renault Kiger gets a sloping roofline and ends with a pronounced roof spoiler at the rear. The rear bumper gets a huge silver skid plate which enhances its robust appeal. Renault Kiger measures 3991mm long, 1750mm wide and 1600mm tall in terms of dimensions. Renault Kiger is available in six colours that include Ice Cool White, Planet Grey, Moonlight Grey, Mahogany Brown, Caspian Blue and radiant Red with Mystery Black Roof.

The Renault Kiger – Smart Interiors

While the exteriors make a stunning statement, the Renault Kiger’s interiors can bring the heat to the competition. The Renault Kiger is a tech-loaded compact SUV that has been equipped with features that will help differentiate it from the competition. The notable features in the Renault Kiger are the driving modes and the expansive 405 litre boot space.

The interiors revolve around 8-inch Digital Infotainment Touchscreen with wireless smartphone replication for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with Voice Recognition, USB and Bluetooth connectivity for seamless pairing of smartphones to use the driving and multimedia apps.

Renault Kiger’s higher variants offer multi-sense settings to experience different driving modes, such as – Normal mode, Eco mode, and Sports mode. All the real-time information is available to the diver via 7-inch TFT Digital Instrument Cluster. It offers best-in-class features in terms of cabin storage of 29.1 Litre and 10.5 Litre storage capacity in the glove box. To add more beauty, the all-black cabin comes with black plastic highlights on the centre console and power window switches. The hexagonal AC vents are given the finishing in a lighter grey trim. Other smart features include a Philips air purifier, wireless charging, Arkamys sound system, automatic climate control, ambient lighting, keyless entry and push-button stop-start, and wireless smartphone replication.

On the safety front, the Kiger comes equipped with dual-front airbags as well as two side Airbags, Radar Sensors and Reverse Parking Cameras. Front seat’s safety features include seat belt reminder alert, ABS with EBD, three-point seatbelts for front and rear passengers.

What’s unique under the hood?

For a sporty drive and dynamic performance, Renault Kiger comes with two petrol engine options including a 1.0 Litre naturally aspirated petrol making 72PS and 96Nm of torque and a more powerful 1.0 Litre turbo petrol making 100PS and 160Nm of torque. Both engine options are mated to five-speed manual units as standard, while naturally aspirated and turbo high variants get the option of AMT and CVT units. Renault Kiger promises much by the way of sporty performance with a much light-weighted kerb.
